Staying in good heart health means that you are keeping your risk of heart disease and stroke down, however staying in good heart health means that you need to keep your blood pressure down.

This also means that you need to take care of your body and what you put in it. Here are some simple things to should do daily in order to remain in good heart health and stay that way.

  • You will want to eat a well-balanced diet and one that does not consist of trans fat, but instead health fats. For example, fats such as polyunsaturated and unsaturated fats are good for you. Trans fats are known for causing blocking and clogging your arteries.
  • Believe it or not getting a good amount of sleeping nightly is a good way to make sure you stay  in good heart health. If you do not get enough sleep, you are at risk for cardiovascular disease, which can lead to bad heart health. Research has shown that getting fewer than 6 hours of sleep a night will put you at a higher risk for cardiovascular disease, so allow yourself plenty of time to get a good night’s rest.
  • If you have a desk job or are known for sitting every day for hours on end, you are putting yourself at risk. Sitting for too long can be bad for your health. If you do have a desk job and find yourself sitting a lot, you may want to take 10 minute breaks or even 5 minute breaks, and get up and walk around. It will also help if you workout for a minimum of 30 minutes a day in order to break up the sedentary.

These every day things may not seem like a lot when it comes to playing a major role in keeping you in good heart health, but if you develop a routine, these simple things will make a big difference in how you feel and how your body functions.
