The Modified Downward Dog
Typically, the downward dog is a traditional yoga pose that involves turning the body into an upside down “V.” This can be challenging, though. Try a modified version instead by standing a couple of feet away from a wall. Bend at the hips, placing your palms flat against the same wall for balance. After 30 seconds, straighten up, rest, and then repeat.
Basically a modified pushup without the up and down aspect, a knee plank involves getting down on your hands and knees. Place your palms flat on the ground and extend your body so that your back is straight and all of your body weight is on the knees and hands. Just stay put for 30 seconds to one minute and breathe deeply before resting and trying again.
The name halfway lift can sound intense, but the lifting part is actually all about your bodyweight. For this pose, you stand up straight with your feet a shoulder width apart. Bending at your waist, you plant your palms on your knees. Stand in that position for about a minute before slowly standing up straight again.
A classic yoga pose that is gentle but great for your whole body. The cobra is very relaxing as well, making it an essential pose for yoga for heart health. Start by laying on the ground on your stomach. Point your toes out behind you. Place your palms flat on the floor on either side of your chest. Lift your chest and head up, using just your arms for support.
