Some might think that running and doing an intense workout is the only way to get healthy and have good heart health. However, that is so not true.

If you have a medical condition that keeps you from being able to run, you can get just as good of a workout by walking. So, do not let not being able to run keep you from a healthy heart.

Walking is a great workout and quickly and easily burns calories, which helps take off some of that unwanted weight. Which, being over weight can lead to high blood pressure, so walking to lose weight can lead to lowering your blood pressure.

You do not have to walk a marathon in order to make a difference towards good heart health or lowering your blood pressure, you can simply walk as little as 30 minutes a day. Research has actually shown that walking three 10 minute segments  throughout your day, is actually better for lowering blood pressure.

Adding a little more to your walk to make it interesting will help pass the time faster and even burn more calories. For instance, try walking a path that has hills, this will add a little extra to your walk, and for the better.

Although walking is really good for your heart health and lowering blood pressure, you will not see results instantly. However, in a short two month period, walking for 30 minutes a day, can actually lower your blood pressure by 7 points.
